PIYN Album The PIYN (People In Your Neighbourhood) project from British Council NZ involves aspiring artists and performers from Auckland’s ethnic communities, working with the best of contemporary UK talent, to create, celebrate and collaborate. At the beginning of the project Sugarlicks provided album recordings gratis, which once completed formed the PIYN album and live show for Womad Taranaki. The show and album were composed in collaboration with Stephen Hussey from Urban Soul Orchestra UK. The self titled creative commons album includes 17 Auckland resident ethnic musicians and songwriters, alongside modern Kiwi urban producers and artists, working together to create a work that has modern production values, whilst still retaining distinct elements of culture. The bulk of the tracks include both English and another language.
