We took a Zoom recorder with the Splice crew onto Auckland streets November 2016 and interviewed and recorded buskers, workers, poets and streeties to give us their perspective of living in the city. The completed audio journey has been produced for buskers to sell on the street and for online donation to homeless services during 2017.
12 string guitar mixed with oncoming cars, the raw blues harp of a streetie and the sound of walking on grass, buskers captured along the way, the noisy traffic in centre city Auckland, poetry, life lessons and a choir. . .
There are many people in our inner city who have experiences of living in Auckland City Centre, and have important perspectives to share about the current state of living in the city and what could be done to improve the sense of community there.
Many of these people don’t currently have a voice – but they do have important stories to tell and perspectives to offer. In some instances these people need the opportunity to express themselves, in order that we can attain a deeper understanding of their lives and the issues that concern them. In some instances they are isolated, or have mental health issues, and we can foster a fuller understanding of them by providing a forum to speak.
The cd has been reproduced for buskers to sell while playing, and you can also donate to the Homeless cause by purchasing the album here.
