Nat Rose
For the past decade Nat Rose has been considered one of Aotearoa’s leading female Soul and Rn’B singers. From the beginning, touring with Upper Hutt Posse back in ‘95 to laying down BV’s with Hollie Smith, Ladi 6 and Solaa – this is one Pacific Rose who is ready to take the spotlight, with her eagerly anticipated, and much celebrated debut album Golden Hour. Nat is now in studio to record the follow-up.
A MAINZ student, Nat Rose joined the Sugarlicks family early in the new millennium – working with the likes of Mark de Clive Lowe, Manuel Bundy and more – and formed the popular band, Lennox Ave, alongside Leon Keelan Davies (Katchafire) and Tyna Keelan (Recloose, Dubious Bros), which enjoyed great live success, particularly around AK.
In ’08 though, she has pooled her experiences and friendships, and drops the exquisite Golden Hour album. Golden Hour is the sound of pure, Aotearoa honey. Ruatoria-born, Nat cites a deep connection with the land as her strongest influence, and says her music promotes what it means to love and appreciate our land, understand our historical heritage-whakapapa and celebrate life.

Guests on the album include Leon Keelan Davies (Katchafire), Sacha Keating, Steph Brown (Opensouls, The Krates), Kim Halliday (Whirimako Black, Big Belly Woman), Charnao, Will Sarich, Trinity Kaumoana and the late Phil Fuemana. Nat Rose describes her style as “Soultearoa”, and the smooth, killer beats and gorgeous caramel vocals married to strong, insightful and pure songwriting, reflects this perfectly.
