Brother J

Always threatening to release unique inspired music,
Brother J (Jason Leslie Hall) was finally ready to show the world his musical vision in 2002 when he released his solo album "Be Bop a Nui".

From early days with Auckland hit band Mesh, hanging out in studio with Crowded House, to late night impromptus at Khuja Lounge, Brother J's talents have always been in evidence.
He is an accomplished player of traditional Maori instruments, (Taonga Puoro), and a unique songwriting talent as well.

His debut album is a snapshot of urban maori life with all the trials, triumphs and heartbreaks documented. The album was  nominated in the finalists for the Mana Maori section of the NZ Music Awards 2003.

The album, described as a Popsoul Shakedown included the Maori single "Awhi I", with accompanying award winning video, and radio hits "Kui Lee" & "Catch the Sun" (which also was
included on the Sugarlicks 2017 vinyl 12" ).

J's new album is set for release 2010, keep up to date with J's news on the Sugarlicks blog.
